A woman reminds the NYP it is legal for her to go topless.
24-year old Jessica Krigsman is suing the New York Police Department for arresting her for going topless in Calvert Vaux Park in Brooklyn — an act that is completely legal.
Krigsman, a burlesque performer who does a fire-eating bondage act under the name of Nikki Talis, claims that two officers walked over to her and insisted she put her shirt on.
According to The New York Post, Krigsman replied: “I’m like, what? Haven’t you heard of People v. Santorelli?” – citing the decision which allows a woman to go topless anywhere it is legal for a man to go topless–“This has been legal since the ’90s. Call your supervisor!”
The police allegedly told her to stop mouthing off, forced her into her shirt and arrested her.
