Police believe they have found a missing child…but not the way anyone was hoping to find her.
Elaina Steinfurth was just 19-months old when she went missing three months ago, but police now believe they have found the remains of her body in a box in the rafters of the mother’s boyfriends home.
Angela Steinfurth and now-estranged boyfriend Steven King II have both been arrested for obstructing justice with possible new charges pending based on the autopsy reports on the remains.
The first autopsy conducted proved inconclusive but DNA tests will be taken to determine if the remains found in a box stuffed behind bags of trash does in fact belong to Elaina, reports ABC.
The home and garage where the remains were found belong to King, where Elaina, her four-year-old sister and Angela had been staying when she disappeared.
When Elaina’s biological father TJ Steinfurth showed up to take his daughters three months ago, only his four-year old could be found but not Elaina. Officers had initially searched the home and garage days after her disappearance but no box was found at the time.
