(WIDK By Bob Bachelder) - A man jailed back in 2005 for fathering children with his sister has lost his appeal.
Patrick Stuebing, from Germany, had consensual sex with his sister when they met after years of separation and was jailed for 14 months by German authorities for incest.
According to CNN, Stuebing was adopted at age 7 and had no contact with his biological family until he was in his 20′s. His sister was 16.
The couple had four children together from 2001-2005, two of which are disabled.
The German Federal Constitutional Court had “considered that sexual relationships between siblings could seriously damage family structures and, as a consequence, society as a whole.”
Stuebing claimed that the court violated his rights to a private and family life.

Scientifically, incest which leads to reproduction does not by itself cause deformities. Highly complex animals such as race horses or dogs are bred selectively using a technique called in-breeding. Such techniques can bring out highly desirable recessive genes for speed etc. Very probably human intelligence is at least partially controlled by recessive genes; Beethoven for example I think had parents who were first cousins.
The problems occur when recessive disease causing genes exist in the family or sex-linked chromosome abnormalities are carried by the female and therefore express them selves in the male offspring.
