(WIDK By Bob Bachelder) - Two sisters have been diagnosed with an extremely rare condition which turns their cells into crystals.

Emily, 3, and Poppy-Mae, 22-months, are suffering from a one in 3.5 million condition, cystinosis, which is a genetic disorder that causes a buildup of amino-acid cystine in cells in the body.

According to Daily Mail, the sisters will face a very tough road ahead of them and will likely experience total kidney failure by age 10.

The disorder causes crystals to form in the kidneys, the eyes, the thyroid gland and the liver.

Jessica Kemp, the mother of the two girls said, “Children with cystinosis don’t have the best life expectancies but at least they each know what the other one is going through and they will always have someone around to look after them.”
