(WIDK by Meggan Gittens) - Everything is falling apart for a former New York woman who lied to family, news papers, and her community, so she could have a lavish wedding reception and honeymoon.
Jessica Vega, 25, was given thousands of dollars after a newspaper ran the story of her battle with cancer and her wish to marry her young daughters father Michael O’Connell.
After the heartfelt story went out the community came together donating money, wedding photos, plane tickets and a time share for the couples honeymoon in Aruba.
According to Fox News , 4 months after their May 2010 wedding O’Connell told the newspaper that Vega had faked the illness. They divorced after incident and the couple moved to Virginia.
Vega pleaded not guilty and is being charged with grand larceny and scheme to defraud.
