(WIDK by Patrick Heywood) - A board of education member takes extreme measures to try and solicit sex from a minor.
Chris Watts, a married man on the Windsor Board of Education in Connecticut, was asked to resign after being arrested last week for trying to solicit sex from a 14-year-old girl in Florida.
Watts flew from Connecticut to Florida, but when he got off the plane in Orlando, he was met by police. Watts had actually been chatting with an undercover agent online.
Tuesday night, the board voted unanimously to remove Watts from the Finance Committee and asked him to resign, because they have no power to remove him because he is a publicly elected official, NBC Connecticut reports.
The board wanted to reassure parents that Watts did not have contact with children in his position.
Watts, who found the undercover agent in chatrooms called “jailbait” and “incest,” has a young daughter and a wife and was honored last year as Teacher of the Year in Simsbury, CT.
In a confessed written statement to police Watts says, “I don’t want to lose my wife and family. I try and be good, but keep repeating old patterns.”
