tyler blackmore matawan-aberdee high school banned hugging no middle school students new jersey

At Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School in New Jersey, Principal Tyler Blackmore announced that hugging is no longer permitted at school.

According to USA Today, this came on the tail-end of incidents involving unacceptable physical interactions that prompted the middle school’s principal to respond.

The superintendent of the district, however, added that it is the school’s job to teach students about proper and improper physical interactions, and that no one would in fact be punished for hugging.

There is no official ‘no-hugging’ policy in place; the school believes the whole event was ‘blown out of proportion.’
