(WIDK By Bob Bachelder) - A woman has died after a tragic accident at a train station.

Irene Bernatzky, 88, from Long Island, was riding an escalator when she fell and the clothes she was wearing got caught in the machine, strangling her to death.
According to The Daily Mail, Bernatzky was on her way to visit her daughter, who lives in Manhattan.
Regular patrons of the train station say that the escalator that killed Ms. Bernatzky is often out of service due to faulty handrails.
“She always traveled by herself to the city, and it’s hard to fathom something like this happening,” said neighbor Dawn Shipsey.
Ms. Bernatzky was set to celebrate her 89th birthday on Tuesday.
